Instructional Videos

Poor Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene is particularly important during orthodontic treatment. Poor oral hygiene can result in plaque building up around the brackets, gumline and underneath the wire. If left unattended, this can result in gingivitis (red, puffy, swollen gums), white spots (decalcification) and cavities on the front of the teeth. While gingivitis is reversible, the white spots and cavities are permanent.

Brushing

The video below demonstrates how to angle your toothbrush during orthodontic treatment. You should be brushing your teeth at least twice a day for a minimum of two minutes at a time.

Flossing

Watch the video for a demonstration of flossing with braces on.
